Design Your Own Indigenous Polo with a BME Workshop

BME Group is thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for schools in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region!

We're inviting Year 5 students to take part in a special project to design their very own Indigenous-themed Year 6 polo shirts for 2026.

This initiative encourages creativity, cultural expression, and community pride, giving students the chance to showcase their connection to Country and Indigenous culture through art.

Don't miss out on being part of this inspiring journey!

Workshop Overview

As part of this initiative, BME Group can host a 1 hour workshop at your school, where our team will guide students through the entire design process. Each session begins with a discussion about the significance of Indigenous symbols, colours and patterns. We’ll also explore local geographical features and the importance of Country, using inspiring examples of Indigenous art.

Through group discussions, students can share ideas about what their school and culture mean to them, and how to represent that visually.

Workshop Details

  • Interactive discussions: Encouraging students to think deeply about their culture and school community.

  • Design resources: We will bring along examples of garments, colour swatches, design inspiration books and templates to help spark creativity.

  • Voting process: After the workshop, your staff can facilitate a discussion and voting process to decide which design elements will feature in the final artwork. This ensures every student has a voice.
